The Darnest Question??

I was half asleep, conserving life for the next battle and asleep and unaware of the little giant in front of me. She asked me "Papa why did God create us?" and she is all of 5.5 yrs old mind you. The intensity and innocense with which she asked me was mesmerizing enough but I found instant courage to address her needs "Beta, God created us so that we can thank him for creating us and experience this beautifuul world!

But this was not enough and though I was still not over with the intensity and depth of her question the follow-up question punched me out for long "Then why did God not create Gods only?" Perhaps, I thought to myself - Perhaps this was a simailar question I had asked myself long ago. Or at least I hoped I was intense enough to ask..

"Those who meditate on the Gita will derive fresh joy and new meaning from it every day. Let the Gita be to you a mine of diamonds as it has been to me. Let it be your constant guide on life's way. Let it light your path and dignify your labor" -- Mahatama Gandhi

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in is own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created be them.

The above two passages from The Bible, fairly will tell the truth, that God created Man in his own image, he created Man with all the qualities of God. He created Gods, thou shall creep upon the earth and be called Man.

As a child the mind is inquisitive and tries to reason reason itself, this quality is evident if the soul bearing the body of the child is mature and has gained wisdom through previous births. This is the reason children are said to be closer to God then grown up men and women. But as a man this quality is tapered by the Moh for Maya and the Love for self.

Acharya Rajneesh once said during one of his discourses in India, "A child dies the day he learns what is his and what is theirs". And we all know, when a child dies a man is born.

So now the question becomes what is the difference between a child, a man and God?

A child is pure, unadulterated, honest, trusting, faithful and radiates the glory of God through his thoughts and actions. Man on the other hand is the same child, who has with time, gained knowledge and has become egocentric. For the child has died and the mind has taken over the body and has started to radiate malice through his selfish actions. Though as a child he loved to play with the neighbor and helped him build the dog and the tree house, now as a man he envy’s the neighbor. And God is nothing but the pure consciousness that the child was supposed to achieve with his birth, what as a man he is struggling to achieve. Only by leading a truthful and honest life, can a man again bask under the glory of God.

On planet Earth everything has a reason to exist, and that reason is to help each other, and grow through osmosis, and breaking the painful process of birth and death by moving to other dimensions by gaining wisdom and finding the God within.

The quest for God is best described in the following poem, Quest for God, by Swami Vivekananda

O'ver hill and dale and mountain range,
In temple, church, and mosque,
In Vedas, Bible, Al Koran
I had searched for Thee in vain.

Like a child in the wildest forest lost
I have cried and cried alone,
"Where art Thou gone, my God, my love?
The echo answered, "gone."

And days and nights and years then passed
A fire was in the brain,
I knew not when day changed in night
The heart seemed rent in twain.
I laid me down on Ganges's shore,
Exposed to sun and rain;
With burning tears I laid the dust
And wailed with waters' roar.

I called on all the holy names
Of every clime and creed.
"Show me the way, in mercy, ye
Great ones who have reached the goal."

Years then passed in bitter cry,
Each moment seemed an age,
Till one day midst my cries and groans
Some one seemed calling me.

A gentle soft and soothing voice
That said 'my son' 'my son',
That seemed to thrill in unison
With all the chords of my soul.

I stood on my feet and tried to find
The place the voice came from;
I searched and searched and turned to see
Round me, before, behind,
Again, again it seemed to speak
The voice divine to me.
In rapture all my soul was hushed,
Entranced, enthralled in bliss.

A flash illumined all my soul;
The heart of my heart opened wide.
O joy, O bliss, what do I find!
My love, my love you are here
And you are here, my love, my all!

And I was searching thee -
From all eternity you were there
Enthroned in majesty!
From that day forth, wherever I roam,
I feel Him standing by
O'ver hill and dale, high mount and vale,
Far far away and high.

The moon's soft light, the stars so bright,
The glorious orb of day,
He shines in them; His beauty - might -
Reflected lights are they.
The majestic morn, the melting eve,
The boundless billowing sea,
In nature's beauty, songs of birds,
I see through them - it is He.

When dire calamity seizes me,
The heart seems weak and faint,
All nature seems to crush me down,
With laws that never bend.
Meseems I hear Thee whispering sweet
My love, "I am near", "I am near".
My heart gets strong. With thee, my love,
A thousand deaths no fear.
Thou speakest in the mother's lay
Thou shuts the babies eye,
When innocent children laugh and play,
I see Thee standing by.

When holy friendship shakes the hand,
He stands between them too;
He pours the nectar in mother's kiss
And the baby's sweet "mama".
Thou wert my God with prophets old,
All creeds do come from Thee,
The Vedas, Bible, and Koran bold
Sing Thee in Harmony.

"Thou art," Thou art" the Soul of souls
In the rushing stream of life.
"Om tat sat om." Thou art my God,
My love, I am thine, I am thine.

May God be with you and your family, and may you lead a life with purity of thought and action.

God bless
